Week 12 - Wrap-Up

 Though I have always found the idea of blogging a fun activity (and not solely an assignment), it has always been hard for me to keep to a schedule needed for a successful blog. As somebody who has wanted to start regularly using Letterbox (a movie review website), this class has helped me create a regular cadence of online posting for all to see. Though I believe it has only been you (Thank you, Mr. Brooks), it has given me the confidence to post more to my internet peers. I don’t think this will help me in my career path, but it is a way I can share information with others interested in my journey and knowledge. That being said, though, even though I have given up my dream to be a journalist, if I can keep myself accountable to writing movie reviews that are not just “this was good/bad,” I hope one day to be able to get some form of a review published at one of my favorite websites slashfilm.com. Thank you for everything this class has given me and brought to my attention!

Week 10 Blog (Late) - AI and Email

      In the past couple of weeks, while watching the tech-based YouTube channels that I enjoy, some very common advertisements have been popping up. These aren't the typical ads that happen after a period of time, but ones that the hosts insert into the video as sponsorships. While not a single company, the concept of adding AI to your email is like the plugin AI Email Writer on the Google Workspace Marketplace. While I don't use Chrome as my default browser on my work computer (MacBook), I may have to download it to Microsoft Edge and try it (thank you for using Chromium MS). Being able to just jot out the basic ideas that the email is supposed to cover, this assistant will then formulate it into a "well-written" email draft. It can even translate if English is not your first language.

Week 6 Post - Parallels

                      When thinking of a virtual machine, two different applications come to mind. First, when I was attempting to complete a Microsoft Azure certificate, they wanted us to know how to upload a patch to a machine with specific steps without launching the patch widely. The second was when I researched emulators for my MacBook to run a copy of Windows. The program in question is Parallels, and while I have a Windows desktop, I may try some comparisons on applications running the emulated versus local versions of the Windows OS. Week 5 Post - HDCP Strippers

                      Upon reading about optical drives this week and learning about RAID last week, I delved a little too deep into how to modernly do what my father always did back in the day—burning movies, just not on a VHS tape. Today, HDMI is the universal cable that connects devices to screens so that they can enjoy the content they desire. With this and the rise in digital media, HDCP was created as a “handshake” between services and devices to help curb the ability to record content that is played off them. Have you ever tried to take a screenshot of a scene from your favorite Netflix show just for it to appear black and blank? That is due to HDCP, and justifiably so.
